New Training School

Today, whilst searching the Google, I stumbled upon a new aviation school,

Aviation School - Despark

It is offering courses compatible to the Malaysian DCA requirements.

However it does not explain more, is it intending for the A license or B license.

However looking at the hours and the composition of the course contents, it is likely for the mechanic program or A license

Aviation School AME Training Academy

I come across a new Aviation School in Malaysia. It is AME Training Academy.

Aircraft Maintenance Program DCAM Part 66 Category A1

Nilai University - Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance

The Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering was launched in 2008.

A write up in The Star commented on the popularity of the program, however there was no students statistics was included. " that the sight of blue and white uniform has become a common sight... at the campus".

The reasons for its popularity are:

a. the syllabus prepares the students for the EASA B1.1 and B2 examination.

b. The University is equipped with hanger and two aircraft to be used for students training.

c. The 2.5 year program include OJT, on job training with the industry partners.

d. On completion of the Diploma, students may do advanced diploma and awarded a Degree by Kingston University UK.

Part 66 Courses in China

I came across an advertisement for EASA part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course in China in a local newspaper in Malaysia. The Aircraft Licensing is one of the courses least understood by Malaysians, and this had led to a number of misunderstanding by the general public.

There are 2 courses being offerred, B1.1 and B2

There is no duration and cost quoted. The best way to get the answer is to call them.

Similar courses are available in Malaysia.
These are the other possible choice.

A. EASA by AeroBidong (EASA Germany)
Currently I am  attached to MIAT UniKL. The course is conducted by MIAT UniKL.
The duration is 2 years and the cost is about RM 80,000.

IEDC college

A new school is registering ita students for a course in Diploma in Aircraft Technology. Looking at the course, it reminds me of MIAT in Sepang. Even the course name and the duration is about the same. We also know that Miat has been pursuing the policy to outsource the Diploma courses and Admal is the first to take the offer.

The Star on 28 Mar 2012 featured the college. These are some of the information I can gather from the paper. It is also accessible on the web at http://iedc.edu.my/. I thing I like, the web is nicely structured using the free resources for the images/pictures.

a. Location

Strategically located in SS2. Looking at the picture, it is well grounded with nice facilities

b. The approval type

The school is under MQA, so it is under education ministry. There is no mention about DCA approval, which I presume that it is not approved under DCA.

c. The syllabus

It does mentioned about EASA part 66. It would probably follow the syllabus in term of design but not in the implementation. MOHE requires a specific mix of theory and practical which is not in line with the requirements of EASA part 66.

ITS PROMOTION

The promotion may be causing confusion to the public. It mentioned about the linking and the partnership with industry players. What is unknown is the extend and the contents of the partnership. It may be the like of MIAT diploma where the final semester is for practical attachment like students from other engineering discipline.
