ALLIED Offering DCAM Part 66 CAT A1

A promotional article was written in a local Malay newspaper BERITA HARIAN, on the training program offered by a new company, Allied Aeronautics Training Centre.

The Contents includes:

1. The forecasted demand for skilled workers in aviation industry for the next 5 years is about 245,000.

2. In the South East Asia region, around 67,400 technicians are required in the aircraft  maintenance area.

3. In Malaysia the need is estimated to be around 32,000.

The course is 3 years with 30% theory and 70% practical. With the A1 license, the worker is expected to earn around rm1980 to rm2500 per month. However he/she may be able to earn more with the B license. The present estimate earning is about rm10,000.

MY  COMMENTS
1. There are a number of Malaysian companies who conducted courses using EASA syllabus. This has misled the public to think that the companies are approved by EASA.

2. The are also other companies who claim to conduct the program following DCAM syllabus, but they are not approved by Malaysian DCA.

3. The approved organisations are thos who have Part 147 approval, or ATO, approved training organisation.

4. DCA has not conducted any examination to approve personnel for Part 66 A1 approval.

5. Details of the approval system can be obtained from DCA at http://www.dca.gov.my/sectors-divisions/airworthiness/notices/ and check for AN1101 and 1201 including the appendix. .

APR New Intake

APR is one of the five DCA approved training school in Malaysia, and it one of the most successful in term of getting the results. Not that the others cannot do it, but the others have the limitations. For example the MAS training is focusing on its own internal staff. Dilog is set to train more of the FELDA students. MIAT is having the University status to look after.

1. It is four year program for B1.1, B1.3 or B2. The training consists of classroom, workshop and On Job Training on operating aircraft.

2. Open for Malaysian and Foreigners 18 - 25 years old.

3. Physically and mentally fit and not color blind.

4. Has SPM, diploma or digree

IEDC college

A new school is registering ita students for a course in Diploma in Aircraft Technology. Looking at the course, it reminds me of MIAT in Sepang. Even the course name and the duration is about the same. We also know that Miat has been pursuing the policy to outsource the Diploma courses and Admal is the first to take the offer.

The Star on 28 Mar 2012 featured the college. These are some of the information I can gather from the paper. It is also accessible on the web at http://iedc.edu.my/. I thing I like, the web is nicely structured using the free resources for the images/pictures.

a. Location

Strategically located in SS2. Looking at the picture, it is well grounded with nice facilities

b. The approval type

The school is under MQA, so it is under education ministry. There is no mention about DCA approval, which I presume that it is not approved under DCA.

c. The syllabus

It does mentioned about EASA part 66. It would probably follow the syllabus in term of design but not in the implementation. MOHE requires a specific mix of theory and practical which is not in line with the requirements of EASA part 66.

ITS PROMOTION

The promotion may be causing confusion to the public. It mentioned about the linking and the partnership with industry players. What is unknown is the extend and the contents of the partnership. It may be the like of MIAT diploma where the final semester is for practical attachment like students from other engineering discipline.
